Two Years

It's hard to believe it's been 2 years already, but in some ways it seems like so much longer.  I know that we were meant for each other...

You warm me up when I'm cold

You wipe away my tears when I'm sad

You're my protector when I'm scared

You bring me more happiness than I could have ever imagined

You're the provider for our families needs

You make me laugh (sometimes at inappropriate times)

You put my needs first

You're the taste tester for all my recipes

Most of all, you're my best friend and the love of my life!

Wedding Bells

Last weekend, Mike's oldest friend, Brett, got married!  Mike was Brett's best man (Brett was Mike's in our wedding too!), so he spent all day Saturday with Brett preparing for the biggest day of Brett's life!  Some pictures from the day...

All dressed up!  (I think this picture is at a really wierd angle--we look funny!)

Post 400

So this is my 400th post. I told Mike today that I need to do better at posting more often. It's been like 20-some days since I last posted!

We're well on our way to getting settled in our house! Our office still has a few things that need unpacked, and our guest room has become a "catch-all" for the time being. If only I had 1 extra day each week to get stuff done!!!

Life has been crazy since the wedding (and we actually thought it would slow down--silly us!) I got back from the honeymoon to find out that the office I work at had about 1 month to find a new building, move, and get back up and running. Turns out our main water supply was getting shut off, leaving us with no water, and of course you can't run a business without flushing toilets! So that has been crazy! We just found out that we got a building we bid on. It needs a bit of work, but we're hoping to move in the week of Thanksgiving! So that has added quite a bit of stress!

Yesterday, my best friend got married! You might remember a few posts ago I told the story of Alecia and Ovi...well, yesterday their dreams came true! The wedding was gorgeous, and I am so happy for them! Here is a picture of the bride and myself!

Wedding Shower

Mike and I had our very first wedding shower this weekend. We drove up to Canada for the weekend for a huge family get-together. Friday night we were all together so my Aunt Anita threw us a shower. She did a wonderful job and we had a blast!
We all gathered in the living room for the festivities. Aunt Anita had a game for us, men versus women. The women had to answer questions that men would typically know and vice versa. There were questions about what tool you would use for a product, what spice was in a bag, what ingredient would not be used in a recipe, or what car emblem the picture was of. The men won!!!

There was a whole table full of munchies that we snacked on while we played games. But then, it was time for gifts! We recieved this beautiful frame from my mom.

My Aung got us a bunch of huge towels.

Aunt Anita brought us a beautiful cake...it was absoultely delicious! We had enough that we were able to bring some home and share it with Mike's family as well.

We got a lot of items from our registry. The evening was a great time with our family, and it was especially special because Mike and I were both able to be there!

Best Candle Ever!

This was one of the presents in my enormous stocking Mike gave me this past Christmas. I haven't used it yet, but decided to use it today. It's really unique, it's like a gel candle. When you touch it, it is like touching gelly, my finger actually was kind of sticky/wet. It smells so good, just like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher. This is probably one of the best smelling candles I've ever had, and I've had a lot!!!

On a more interesting and exciting note, Mike and I are getting married in exactly 4 months!!!
I'll post an update on our wedding plans soon!

Wedding Songs

I am having so much fun planning our wedding! Seriously! There is so much to do, but it is coming along so well and it's fun fun fun! I have done so much of the big stuff, now I'm working on the little things. My project right now is picking out music to be played during the ceremony and reception. I think the reception is pretty well set, we just have to set a few songs. But the ceremony is harder, because I want most of the music to be instrumental. There are so many types of songs; preludes, the processional, the Bride's song, the Unity candle song, the recessional... I found this awesome site that has been super helpful! There are some absolutely beautiful songs on this site, and now I'm having a hard time deciding.

What songs did you play at your wedding? If you're not married, what songs do you want played at your wedding? Are there any "must-haves"?

Big news!!!

Mike took me ice-skating yesterday. For a few weeks now he's been talking about going ice-skating and we were both free yesterday afternoon so off we went. We decided to go downtown to Rosa Parks Circle. It was only Mike's second time skating and it has been a while since I have ice-skated. It took us a few rounds to get used to it and before we knew it we were skating like pros! (Yeah right...but we can dream!) It was the absolute perfect day for skating, 40 degrees, blue skies and sunny. Our ankles were getting sore so we decided to take a break.

One neat thing about Rosa Parks Circle is that they have an outdoor sound system so there is music going that we can skate to. As we are taking our rest, our song came on the radio! I looked at Mike and we were like, it's our song!!! So of course we had to skate to it.

So off we went...some of the ice was melting a bit so we avoided those areas around the edges. Mike steered me closer and closer to the center ice, I finally asked why we in the center because we were skating in a line instead of a circle. He said, I'm ready for another break, let's stop here a minute. Okay, so we stopped. Look over there, there's snowflakes in the window! Mike pointed to a building behind me. I turned back to him and he said, I think God's trying to tell me something, and proceeded to get down on one knee! Melissa, will you marry me? YES!

A lady there was nice enough to take our picture. We decided to stop skating and walk around downtown so we could start making plans. We are very excited to start planning the wedding and can't wait to get married!!!

Right after he popped the question!

My beautiful perfect engagement ring!!!
