Easter Sunday was so beautiful, Mike and I decided to enjoy the warmth, so we went to check out a park. His dad told us about a new park, Upper Macatawa Natural Area, so we decided to go there. The weather was great...we wore sweatshirts, but by time we were halfway through the park, it was so warm we took them off!
When we first entered the park, there was a paved path that led up to a scenic overlook area. From there we took a natural trail that led us into the woods. When we exited the woods we were back on a natural trail in the field. There are almost 600 acres of natural area, and we are already planning to go back there this summer!

Makeover Monday
Lucky you! Today you get a double product makeover!
I have naturally curly hair, but I also like to wear it straight. Lucky for me, mark. has everything I need for both styles!
When I want to wear my hair curly, I use the curl goddess curl and wave defining gel. It has conditioning sunflower oil in it, so it smells great plus it doesn't dry out my hair like many gels with alcohol in them do! I just use about a quarter size of gel, rub my hands together, and then run my hands through my hair, scrunching as I go. This gel holds really well without the crunchy look. Since I usually take a shower at night and use this gel then, I use a spray bottle and mist my hair when I get up in the morning, and the curls spring right back!
When I want to wear my hair straight, I use the salon straight smoothing balm. It smells like oranges and does double duty, it helps me get my hair straighter (and the straightness lasts longer) and it smooths my hair to keep the frizzies away! I use a quarter size of gel, rub my hands together, and smooth it through my hair. I let my hair air dry, and then in the morning I straighten it. I have found that using this gel makes the time it takes to straighten my hair a lot shorter!
If you have curly or straight hair, I definitely recommend these gels!

I'm done!!!
I have officially attended my last class! Yesterday I had 2 classes, a test in one of them and just a few speeches to listen to in the other. So at noon yesterday, I walked out of my very last class!
I do have to go back Monday night for my Computer exam, and Wednesday night to present my Ethics report, but basically, I'm done!
Graduation is a week from today! It's amazing how quickly these past 2 years have gone. I'm so ready to be done with school and find a new job and start working! :)

Who knew such a little brush could make such a big difference? I sure didn't! I have heard a lot of talk about using Kabuki brushes for applying mineral make-up, but I never wanted to spend $20 on such a little brush! Well, it was on sale last campaign and I figured, why not? Let me tell you, that was one of the best make-up buy decisions I have made!
The first time I applied my make-up using this brush I thought my make-up looked way over done and cakey. Definitely not the look I was going for. I quickly realized that I had used way too much foundation...but hold on, I used the same amount I always do!
Let me explain, the Kabuki brush has bristles that are extremely dense and close together. This enables the user to achieve a more balanced look, while using less make-up. When you use a Kabuki brush, you only need a pearl sized amount of foundation. Swirl it around so that the head of the brush is completely covered. Apply to your face in a circle motion. What a huge difference! I'm now using 1/3 of the amount of foundation I used to, and my make-up actually looks better and more natural now! Who would have thought that such a little brush could make such a big difference? If you don't use a Kabuki brush, what are you waiting for? Get one today!

Last week I told you about Magix Face Perfecter. Today, I'd like to show you another great product for any skin type. Mineral foundation is made from minerals and most dermatologists say that it is actually good for your skin, because of the minerals, and it is really light so it allows your skin to breath. It is also a great foundation for people with oily skin because it tends to absorb the oil, leaving your skin shine free!
Ideal Shade Smooth Mineral Foundation comes in many colors, so there's a shade for everyone. The container it comes in is quite large, and I would estimate that it will last about 4-6 months. When you use mineral foundation, less is more. Here are the basics on how to use mineral powder:
1. Tap a small amount of powder, about the size of a pea, into the lid.
2. Swirl your foundation brush around the lid, absorbing all the powder.
3. Tap the brush on the side of the lid to remove any excess powder.
4. Apply the makeup, starting from the outside of your face near the jaw line, and working inward.
5. You do not need to apply a lot of pressure. And remember less is more...if you think you need another layer, use a small amount of powder and repeat the process.
I started using mineral makeup about 2 years ago, and I will never go back to non-mineral makeup. Mineral makeup provides excellent coverage, yet it is light enough that I don't feel like I'm wearing a mask.
What kind of foundation do you use? Have you ever tried mineral makeup? If you have, what do you think?

The Folded Napkin
I got this in an email and I wanted to share it with you...
Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?
The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the graveclothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.
Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from theentrance.
She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of thetomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'
Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked inand saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.
Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' headwas folded up and lying to the side.
Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!
In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day.. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition...
When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it.
The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished.
Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table.
The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'.
But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table,because...........The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'
He is Coming Back!! Be Blessed

Did you know that 70% of women have what is called combination skin type? This means that while the cheeks may tend to be normal or even dry, the t-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) then to be oily. I definitely have this skin type! One product I use to combat the shine is mineral makeup (stay tuned for that next week). But AVON recently came out with a new product that is just amazing!!!
It's called Magix Skin Perfector. It's really easy to use and the results are incredible. It comes in a tube with a tiny hole to squeeze the product out of. Magix starts as a cream but dries to a powder. Simply squeeze a small amount on to your fingers and apply to your problem areas before you put on your makeup. It soaks up oil for up to 10 hours, leaving you shine free. I have also found that it provides a thin layer of protection over any blemishes, making it easier for me to conceal them.
Shortly after coming out with this invisible formula, AVON also introduced a tinted formula, similar to a liquid foundation, but a lot lighter feeling. I have yet to try the tinted version, but I'm sure it will be just as good, if not better than the original. If you have oily or combination type skin, I definitely recommend that you try Magix!

A Peek Inside My Purse
Last week, Mari challenged me (and her other readers) to share the contents of my purse. I thought it would be interesting to do, and to see how others respond and what others carry in their purses. So here we go....
This is my brand new purse. I just ordered it from Mark...it's about twice as big as any purse I've ever had before, but my old purse was just getting too small. I like this one though!
These are the essential "quick grab" items I keep in the front pocket. My cellphone, keys, and chapstick...can't go without it!!!
One reason I needed a bigger purse is to carry around my Avon books and samples. Normally I have more brochures but I'm down to my last one. I also have plenty of pens and pencils and my Tide-to-Go because I never know when I'll need that!!!

These items are just floating around in my purse. I have a small makeup pouch, that mostly has chapsticks and lip gloss in it, oil blotter sheets, and a small container of my mineral make-up for quick coverups. Then I have another mirror, Carmex, Purell, headache medicine, and the most amazing hand cream ever!

There are two little pouch type things on the inside of my purse, one for my cell phone (which doesn't get used) and the other for whatever I choose. So I decided that it is the perfect place for my check books and planner. I also have my wallet floating around of course!
I hope you enjoyed that little peek into my purse...Now it's your turn, are you up to the challenge?
